LSE: HR or international employment relations and hr

hi!!
i was thinking if someone could help me! I applied to several unis (including Lancaster, Warwick, Leeds, Lse), for the time being i received an offer from lancaster and lse. Though, lse MSc is International employment relations and HR. I'm a bit confused to make my mind and decide to which uni to go...! Does someone know about this programme and the opportunities for finding a job after graduation? Also which are the differences between HR and International relations and HR? Thank you:redface:

I've just done MSc. HR at Manchester and one point I would say is check about which programme offers the CIPD qualification on completion of the course as you will really need this to get a managerial job in HR. I did comparative employment relations as part of my course (its prob part of most HR courses). I depends on what you want to do after job, PhD etc. etc. If you want a job deffo go with a HR one which offers Graduate membership of the CIPD alondside it.

yes, there are ways afterwards but it is so much easier to do it as part of your masters. if you don't do it as part of your masters you have to do it through part time/distance learning i think, i don't know how long it takes. you have to do 4 components and professional development (don't quite know 4sure) it would just drag it out though if you know now that you want to get a job.
i have had to:-
attend 7 skills workshops run by companies such as BP, RBS etc
do a management test (8 questions- not really a test)
a management project
a 4000 word report on my MSc dissertation.
how i have developed 10 skills over the past 15 months

etc, etc, etc- it all comes together as a "skills portfolio".

hope this helps- any q's then just let me know.

thank you very very much for your assistance!!!!
i'm asking because i was offered a place by lse and due to its reputation (and many other reasons) i really want to go there...!I'm from greece and we deeply pay attention to "lebels". I applied to Warwick, Leeds, Lancaster, Aston, Manchester. I received an offer from Lancaster and LSE. The other unis haven't answered me yet. What would you advised me to do...! In case of being offered a place to Warwick i should better go there...?

warwick and lse are both very good schools, i think that would be down to personal preference and how well warwick is known in greece.
i personally am not keen on warwick because of the campus its like in the middle of nowhere -(i've been in manchester far too long !!!!!! )

Warwick and Lse are equally fine Universities...!Tha thing is that i don't know which one is better!!!Each has its advantages and disadvantages...!Personally i believe that Lse is better than Warwick (plus it is in the heart of London...) but it doesn't offer graduate membership of the CIPD! Warwick as long as i know is somehow "isolated". I don't know! By the way, i haven't received an answer yet by warwick...! What would you do?

i am sure that lse does a course that offers cipd as i was looking at it last year but i was put off by the price of fees and living costs in london. i will check

Lse does have a course that offers Cipd. I applied to that course but unfortunately my application rejected...! My second choice is International Employment Relations and Human resource Management which MSc doesn't offer graduate membership of CIPD.

oh dear thats unfortunate! that shows you that the cipd course is more competitive to get on to. like i have told you it depends what you want to do after? do you want to go back to greece? is the cipd recognised in greece? i think it has been an excellent thing for me to do personally and really complements the MSc and improves your skills. employers like you to have it for a career in HR and puts you a step ahead of those who do not have it.

only you can decide!

I know...! In Greece doesn't play a serious role CIPD, I mean it isn't a prerequisite to be a member of Cipd in order to find a job...!However, it is an advantage in my CV. For the time being my plans are to return to Greece after my studies (but i'm also thinking to work there for a couple of years before i return)...!I don't know what to do...!
Thank you very much for your assistance...!
I have many bad things about Manchester (as a city) i think that you are aware of them too...! Are these things just rumours? I'm asking because I was thinking to study there!
I'm really glad that there is someone who can help me...! Thank you

I think manchester is fantastic and very safe
The busiest bus route in Europe runs from the centre through the universities, fallowfield (student area) and through withington, didsbury. Its like a bus every 2 minutes 24 hrs a day.
I live in fallowfield, in university halls, I am in Ashburne Hall and its great here, security is very tight.
I have never had any problems with safety, its the same as any city as long as your careful you won't have any problems. Stay away from places like Moss Side, Hulme, Longsight and Levenshulme and you will be fine.

I see..!so, you suggest that it would be better to study at Manchester instead of LSE or Warwick?By the way, in Greece is not necessary to be member of CIPD in order to work as a manager...!I have to answer within 4 weeks and i haven't received yet the offers from all unis...!

Hi guys, also overseas student from Argentina
my dilemma is the following:
Applied for HRM courses and received this

1) Warwick (conditional offer, very achiavable)
2) King´s college (idem, but im not tempted dont know why)
3) Lancaster (unconditional offer plus full tuition grant)

I like Warwick the most but I will have to go on debt to pay for it, while Lancaster is offering me a full grant. Notwithstanding the degree is also a little different: at WBS is a MA in HRM & IR, while at lancaster is an MA in HR and knowledge management. Dont know is the market perceive this difference.

What do you think? Based on your knowledge of academic reputation, the job market, what do you recommend?
Thank you!
