For economics, NOT 'Freakonomics', 'The Undercover Economist' or 'The Armchair Economist'. Not sure about what books would be good or helpful, but it should be something that is interesting to you

keynes general theory

krugman accidental theorist

friedman monetary history of the united states

friedman capitalism and freedom

greenaway macroeconomics

harford undercover economist

sowell basic economics

should give you enough content to go through 5 schools of economic thought and understand macro (and business cycles) and micro without being biased
