Can i use a debit card online?

im 16 and about to go to college in September so my mum suggested getting a debit card. i don't see the point in having one if i can't use it to order things off of the internet, an id like to know if i can or not? i can't find the answer anywhere. any advice please?
Yes, you can. As you're 16 you'll probably end up getting a Visa Electron card rather than Visa debit. They're a little bit different but you use them in very much the same way. Some online places don't accept them but the vast majority will.
