Moving out

I don't think I can take it any more! I hate living with my parents, it is really starting to stress me out.

I'm starting university in September, and I'm now just working full time on quite a menial wage of about £200 a week. I really want to move out but the problem is that all my friends have gone to uni and I wouldn't have a flat mate. Living alone would be impossible with the amount that I earn so I want to share a rent with someone. So, I have two questions:

a) Can I actually share a flat with my wage (I have nothing saved)

b) How do I find people to share a flat with? There are some people I know who haven't gone to uni but none are really interested in flat sharing.

Cheers for the help.

Does depend where you live; I paid £325 in rent and £80-odd in council tax a month when I moved out, I was on about £600 a month and I managed fine and loved it! Are you sure you couldn't manage? Money will be tight but the independence is well worth it.

Hate to break it to you but there are very few contracts available for under 1 year, so if you're going to uni in September you'd need to find a flat for 8 months only. Therefore being able to find what you want would be very unlikely. Unless you're going to uni close to home, in which case totally disregard what I just said, and good luck finding somewhere

I'm sure that's not true, every place I've ever lived in has been 6 month initial contract and I lived in my first place for 8 months. And so far as I know that's standard for every agency I've come across. My advice to the OP is to call letting agencies and ask them, that way you'll be sure.

i agree with post #5. At the end of the day if all your mates are gone what are you soending your money on? Save your cash and wait till uni. Instead of doing the angsty teenage bit have a bit of maturity and sort the problems at home. You could even get a second job, i had 3 at one point in my gap year.

type in flat share into google. I cant remeber the name of the site, but it'll show you loads of people in your area looking for a flat mate. Or just put your profile up there and someone might get back to you.

Sorry i cant remember the name of it!
