I'd surmise between £25-30K, probably leaning towards the 30 mark.

Not a good wage for London.

Newly hired deloitters take home 30k a year, and they wont see a bonus for 4 years - company policy (see - http://www.wikijob.co.uk/wiki/Deloitte)

Compared to Accenture, this is rubbish as they pay you 40k plus 10 k signing on bonus spread over the course of first year (see - http://www.wikijob.co.uk/wiki/Accenture)

Deloitte are undoubtedly a better company though. You might want to question why Accenture want to pay you so much! (see - http://www.notgotajobyet.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=26)

Good luck!

my brother gets paid 28k and he joined a month ago. He says once he gets and passes his ACA exams the salary increases greatly.

We had a talk last night from a guy who used to do actuarial science at my uni, he graduated around 2003, and works in actuarial consulting for Deloitte, and they earn £335 per hour! (the analysts earn £225).

They don't earn that much. They charge that much to the clients.

Deloitte main london offices - pcs tax gets paid same as rest of tax - £27750 core salary.

your work gets charged out to clients at £160/hour for first years up to £1000+ per hour for partners.

i work for deloitte im here now and i hate it. do not join unless you are coming into the firm having stepped straight off your daddys yacht and into the job. cos i went to a polytechnic and a comprehensive school and most of the other grads dont even speak to me. i cry sometimes in the loos and on the train. socially it is awful if you are not from this background. im only here cos of the money

Surely they cant be that snobby/toffish? I would like to work for one of the big 4 eventually, and had a talk from a couple of former uni students who work for deloitte, it does sound like they live a pretty lavish lifestyle, but they all seemed like down to earth people. Maybe it's different in different departments though.

ive just applied to my universites; liverpool, dundee, city, stirling and kent.

i got an offer today from dundee.. anyhow my point is, if i want to work in london.. does it matter that i didnt go to a london uni (with the exception of city)?

also.. iv heard that PwC is a much better firm to work for than Delloite.. anyone care to shed light on this?

thanks

Socially (having worked for both Pwc and KPMG)

KPMG >>>>>>>>

Absolutely love the place, the people are really nice, there's always some sort of event going on like 'pub of the week' and 'cookie time' on fridays lol, there's a sense of closeness between everyone (at my office anyway) - which is personally what i want in a work place.......

and for that wonder do we get any work done lol, we do!!! these breaks are for like say half hour on a friday (for cookie time) and is just a nice way just to chat to everyone in the office and take a break from work, then you get back to work even more motivated etc..........

i'm not a rep for KPMG lol, Deloitte i worked for 1 month and as the poster above said you need to be in a certain category to work there, i mean there were plenty of conversations where i was like 'huhhh' as i come from a comprehensive state schools etc..........

pwc was not like that but still KPMG socially was much better ........

Reply 16

thanks for the help! i shall look into KPMG!

and i think you should consider being a rep

Between PWC and KPMG, I'd personally choose KPMG. This is based on nothing more than personal judgements I've made when meeting KPMG and PWC staff. The PWC company car scheme is pretty fantastic though.

I'm working for Deloitte and loving it. I wouldn't swap for any of the other Big 4 for love nor money at the moment. My experience is in no way similar to that of shinytoy - socially our office is fantastic and everyone has great banter and enjoys each others company. The schools people went to couldn't matter less.

Someone may have held this view but to the best of my knowledge it is not in any way 'fact'.

Thanks for the response Tendol!

Can i ask, which university did you attend? as i am slightly worried my choice of university will not really give me a chance to work at any of the big 4

I have applied to
City
Dundee
Liverpool
Kent
Stirling

and will hopefully be coming out with approximatley 300 UCAS points
