MSc Finance - Manchester or Lancaster

Hello,

I have been offered places to study in the MSC in Finance at Manchester and Lancaster and I am wondering which one to accept? I am in the US and do not know much about the reputations of the schools, other than that FT ranked Manchester's MBA at 22 and Lancaster's at 30.

Which finance department has the better reputation and which school do you think improves career opportunities? I am leaning towards working at a hedge fund after graduation and probably not going into IB. Also, I am still waiting to hear from Cass and Imperial, what about their programs?

Thanks for the help

Cass and Imperial should be considered above and beyond Manchester and Lancester if your looking for future prospects and reputation.

I'll be in a similar situation in the future, but my list will include London Business School - I would advise looking into that insitution closely.

This is probably better off in the main university page, or the finance section on this site.

Definitely Manchester. The university is highly respected (it is also red-brick), and the city is quite amazing.

Hello,

I need some help deciding between the MSc in Finance or the MSc in Investment Management at Cass or the MSc in Finance at Manchester Business School. Which school has the better reputation among employers?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

I think CASS would have better links with city jobs. Even though city university isn't that highly regarded as Manchester, the CASS business school itself is very reputable.

Reply 7

CASS, no doubt.

cass blad. Have a visit if unsure.

Reply 9

Cass blad? Whats that mean?

I don't know about the specifics of the departments, but overall Manchester has a better reputation than Lancaster.

Rude boy stuff innit

Basically, he's saying CASS

Reply 12

I would say Manchester.

its business school is more reputable than Cass worldwide.

Plus in terms of rankings, Manchester uni is higher than City. Also, a MD at Goldman Sachs told me Manchester is one of the target unis for recruitment.

my cents

I suggest that you post your question in the postgraduate section for more specific responses. Good luck in making your choice.

ic&man r much more reputable than the other 2. ic was ranked 9th(3rd in uk) & Man 40(7th in uk) in the world league table. pls note: the ranks of the two univs in the previous tables were pretty stable, further demonstrating their lead in the world. But cass has its unparallel edge, closely connected to the fin sector. if u pick tanaka or cass, u have to suffer the notorious tui fee, gona pay 19 grounds? that amount could almost afford a brandnew porsche boxster!
