A lot of my friends are at Cali & my sister also went there. I've not heard anything bad about it. I was atcually deliberating over paisley and cali and I chose cali because of the bad rep paisly has...don't know if its true but will be attending cali this summer anyway!
On reputation alone, Cali outsrips Paisley

Paisley's rep on computery stuff tends to be a bit better than its overall rep.
We can't really say if Cali would be better or worse unless we know why you don't like Paisley though...
I went to Cale the year just gone, and left after 6 weeks because I hated it. Saying that, I lived 3 hours away in England, so I found the transition really hard.

I found that everyone was really local, and many people new each other already so although evryone was lovely, it was hard to because part of a group because they were formed already.

I also found that there weren't many in halls, I did BSc Psychology, and found that maybe..a handful were in halls and the rest lived at home so it wasn't the easiest thing to socialise out of lectures/seminars.

Also, we (my flatmate and I) went to the SU bar to meet some folk etc on a Saturday night, about 10pm and it was shut, which was rubbish.

I left because I felt the experience I was having, wasn't the university one I wanted. It might have got better if I had stayed, it might not, I'll never know but I'm happy now. My flat mate also decided to leave as she felt the same as me. She left at Christmas though.

Obviously that's only my experience, and that of my flatmate. You might have a much better experience  good luck regardless!

it was probably closed because it was quiet or empty for any number of reasons
1. it was saturday and everyone had somewhere better to be, even if you want a union srathclyde's is way better and we can get in there with our cards
2. it was a dive
3. people were afraid of catching diseases from the seats
4. it smelled of cheese

but... we have a new union opening soon so don't let negitive reviews about that put you off.
everyone is really friendly and its so casual, having been to glasgow uni too I'd recommend cale over there any time.

Caledonian!

It's a great place, maybe a wee bit dull at first and yes, the Union was in need of a fix-up but that being said, the people are friendly. Although I've never been to Paisley University, a friend of mine developed a real dislike for the place and dropped out of Computing after the first year. He never did go back to Uni so give this opportunity some good thought!

Good luck!
