Its a sweet idea. i love poems, especially ones for love!

Certainly, no reason why not.
It's probably something he'd find quite personal, between the two of you, though so either give it to him on some nice paper that he can put away or in the card. If you put it in a big frame he'll feel obliged to put it out somewhere which he might be less keen on; I like receiving things like that but don't like other people asking to read/see them.

Tbh, I'm not keen on stuff like that; poems, red roses etc

If you are going to do it, make sure that a) your boyfriend feels strongly enough about you (because, lets face it, love poems are pretty 'deep') and b) you can write well enough that he won't cringe whenever he reads it.

very good point shmokie. Make sure your stuff is actually decent, otherwise it could be a bit of an embarrassment. In my opinion, soppy 'love poems' often aren't good poetry anyway, due entirely to the overwhelmingly emotive subject matter.

Frankly, they are usualy terrible poems, full of clichéd metaphors and abstractions.

Why not just write him a really nice letter?

Reply 6

yeah make up your own. i'm sure he'll like it

A kiss says a million words......poetry won't really express much of how you feel.....
