I'm trying to calculate how many UCAS points I have for University and also how many I will have after I've finished my course BTEC Level Three Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, hoping to get a distinction or distinction* (Fingers Crossed.) I've also just finished my BTEC Level Two Diploma in Health and Social care, getting the grade Merit.

I'm looking at this website - http://www.apply2uni.co.uk/ucas-points-calculator.html
Please feel free to give your opinion if you think this is trustworthy or if you have any other websites that could help me.

Anyway, it asks me to give my grade which to me I got a merit but to the websites its a whole different thing which is confusing and complicated (probably only just to me) but what is Merit in the whole DDM, DMM, MMP thing.

I am utterly confusing and just mind boggled, in need of help.
Feeling very dumb and hopeless right now.
Thank you for all the answers and help you give to me!
Kirsty Diane.

A BTEC level 2 (also known as a First) Diploma is a GCSE equivalent and is not worth any UCAS points. The overall grade ranges from Pass to Distinction star (P, M, D and D*).

A BTEC level 3 (also known as a National) Extended Diploma is A level equivalent and is worth UCAS points. As it’s worth 3 A levels it’s given 3 grades ranging from Pass Pass Pass to Distinction* Distinction* Distinction* (PPP, MPP, MMP, MMM, DMM, DDM, DDD, D*DD, D*D*D and D*D*D*)

^ Link to UCAS points for BTEC level 3.

BTEC Level 2 Diploma = 4 GCSEs C –A*
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma = 3 A Levels E – A*(180 Credits)

If you have done an Extended Diploma you should have been told 3 grades not just one.

There are other level 3 BTECs qualifications and their equivalency varies.

BTEC Level 3 Certificate = 0.5 A Level (AS) (30 Credits)
BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma = 1 A Level (60 Credits)
BTEC Level 3 90-credit Diploma = 1.5 A Levels (90 Credits)
BTEC Level 3 Diploma = 2 A Levels (120 Credits)
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma = 3 A Levels (180 Credits)

^ Sites like this are better for calculating grades, but you will need to know how many units you have taken, the credits for each unit, the grade for each unit and what type of level 3 BTEC you have taken.
