Keeping your distance.......tailgating

Its not hard to keep your distance. Not tailgating has absolutely no time disadvantage over having anal sex with the driver in front. Nevermind, this video explains it better than myself:

In a perfect world, I wouldn't tailgate. But then again, in a perfect world, people wouldn't drive so slow these days.

Try driving in Florida. Leaving a gap physically big enough to fit a car is invitation for someone to come up in whichever lane they feel like and squeeze in without indicating. So everyone drives half an inch away from the car in front.

Makes everyone here seem positively generous with gaps!
I drive a van so am forced by unwritten to tailgate you nomatter what speed you are doing
Sorry
Tailgating doesn't bother anyone. Shouldn't bother you either, if they crash into you - its automatically their fault. And you can enjoy some free cash

You've obviously never had an accident.

I lost just short of £1,000 when my E39 was hit earlier this month and that was non fault for me too. It wrote it off totally and I'm lucky to be alive. Had I been in a smaller car, say a Corsa or the like, I'd be dead.

I haven't been in an accident no, but you can always challenge an insurance companies decision. They will never be fair to you or just, but if they **** you over enough then you have perfect reason to take them to court.

in 10 years when you can drive you will realise
There's absolutely no advantage to tailgating whatsoever. You can see less of what's ahead because the car in front is taking up all of your view; you have no room to brake; and if they were to have to stop all of a sudden (they broke down or kept stalling for example) and you had to go round them, you're gonna be in a bit of an awkward position. So what if they're driving slowly, you're also gonna be driving slowly because you're still behind them, might as well at least drop back a little and allow some room. In such a case I normally just speed match them, pop cruise control on and enjoy the scenery.

Bothers me when I'm already over the speed limit and there's some bellend, probably in a BMW, right up my arse trying to get me to go faster. I'd rather not have my vehicle damaged and go through all that *******s getting it repaired, sorting out claims etc., and also then have to put that I've been involved in an accident next time I renew my insurance, which will go up in price regardless of whether or not the accident was your fault.

Exactly. So they're not going to give you load of money are they.

I lost out over £700 on what my car was worth AFTER I haggled them up on their offer.

Clearly you've never heard of uninsured losses either.

Like I previously said, and I'll repeat, you are not obliged to accept their final offer if you think it is unfair. You can take them to court and and demand what you deserve, you can get your car valued by a specialist and they have to pay out x amount of money.

I can already drive you moron. Grow up.
Don't drive in express lanes if you are a slow coach

I do expect the loser in front of to give me way if I'm on a rush and I'm clearly driving at a higher speed.
I think the worse one is when your in the outside lane trying to overtake, and an idiot comes up wayyyy over the speed limit and forces you out when there's nowhere for you to go!

this is mainly on the A roads, thank god for the Middle lane of motorways 😄

Terms and Conditions. That's how they get you. It's legal, not fair. Crucial difference. You don't seem to understand uninsured losses either. I spent a bomb on taxi's for starters.

Come back when you have had a crash that wasn't your fault and you've lost money.

So what happens if it's a standard single lane road and there's still a bellend tailgating you despite the fact that you're already 5mph over the speed limit?

Have you not heard, there's a new trend, they just overtake you by driving on the wrong side of the road, or wait til you get to a roundabout, go in the right side line, but then cut you up.

I'm well aware of the trend unfortunately  Oh and the ones that think putting their indicator on a split second before an aggressive lane change justifies them making you brake harshly to avoid rear-ending them, or beep you if you don't let them in because the last second indication gave them right of way

Ahaha yes all the time! So annoying, especially when they start swearing at you and shouting and you're like,
"God, I forgot to turn on the shrinking button of my car to make more room for you how inconsiderate of me"

And if you're driving at night, they must switch their main beams on. Because there's no better way of making someone speed up, than blinding them and being as close as possible.
