I find that regular moisturising does seems to help the scars slightly - I have them on my feet and they blend in a lot more. Also fake tan is quite good but don't know how you feel about that being a guy. Hope this helps.

I believe Vitamin E cream and Bio Oil can help
I used vitamin E cream on my scar and I think it helped a lot, but bio-oil is also supposed to be very good.

I agree, Vitamin E or even those scar reduction pads you can get from boots although they can be expensive I think
Hmm... I've tried all that for the last 6 months, yet mine haven't faded at all... on my wrist as well.

Ah well, most people don't ask.

Palmers? I use that all the time, had some scars on my legs which it got rid of. My sister used bio-oil on some scars she had on her face after a car crash, it really helped, she also used shark liver oil, not sure you can get it it the UK but it worked.

I don't know as you will even manage to get rid of scars totally (especially if they are quite deep/big), you should be able to get them to fade though!

There are a few things which are meant to help reduce scarring, most of which I think have already been mentioned. I'll run through them for you though!

Palmers cocoa butter/cream: This is basically a cream/moisturiser, you can get it from boots, superdrug etc. It is meant to help with stretch marks, scars as well as just dry skin etc. Personally, it is a nice cream, and I find it does help a bit with smaller scars etc, I don't know as it would help much with bigger scars. I often use it on my legs and it helps reduce some of the little scars I have from cuts/nicks when shaving! You could give it a go if you want, it won't do any harm, its only a cream and its pretty cheap as well.

Aloe Vera: This is the gel from a plant, you can often buy it from places like Holland and Barrett I think in a tube. My parents have got an aloe vera plant, we can break open the leaves and use the gel from the middle of them, there is a surprising amount of gel in them! (But its probably easier to just buy a tube!) Again, this is quite good for little scars, I know a lot of people who use it on small burns from the kitchen etc. I also quite like it for sun burn - the gel is quite cooling, but it might not help much with bigger scars.

Vitamin E: I know sometimes people use vit e on scars - I havn't myself, so can't say if it helps or not. I think people normally buy the vit e oil capsules, can get them in boots etc again! Pierce them and squeeze the oil out of them and use that to rub on the scars.

Bio Oil: I have found this stuff to be really good! Again, boots and superdrug sell it I know. I used this on an operation scar that I had on my back, its fairly long and was quite red and raised. It really helped! I had the op in jan (a few years ago) and was wearing a backless dress for our ball at uni in the june and wanted to try and fade it by then. So i probably used it for about 5 months, and it 'calmed' it down a lot, it wasn't as red and seemed to help or at least make it look, flatter. You can still see it, but is is not as obvious. I can't remember how much it was, about £6/8 for a bottle I think, and I only used the one bottle for the 5 months. I just used to 'massage' the oil in twice a day. I would say this is probably worth a try - partly cos I'm biased as it worked for me, but I have also heard a lot of other people who have found it really helped with fairly big scars, rather than just little cuts and burns etc.

Scar reduction pads Havn't used these, so can't really comment on them! I have seen them in boots, I think they are fairly expensive so depends how much you want to spend. Again, I would assume these are aimed at 'bigger' scars, so may help with what you are looking at.

Overall - I don't know as you will find anything which will totally get rid of them, but using one or a combination of them might help fade them so they aren't as noticeable. It will probably also depend how old they are, scars obviously fade in time anyway, but you will generally get more success with the various oils/creams/pads etc the newer they are. But, I guess it won't do any harm trying them, you don't really lose if they don't work!

Hope that helps a bit! Feel free to PM me if you want any more advice, or just want a chat, would be glad to help.

That's it..Thank you that's been driving me mad all night :P
Bio oil
If bio oil and all that doesn't work you can get something called dermatix from your GP on prescription. It's a cream you put on once a day which keeps the scars hydrated, takes a few months to work, I've been using it for the same reason as you for just over a month now and starting to see the scars flattening at the sides.
