alton towers petrol prices

In June, me and the bf are planning on driving down to alton towers. We have worked out the costs for everything else but need to work out cost of petrol. We will be driving from edinburgh so its about 270 miles. Anybody thats been before got an idea on how much it'll be?
Seeing as it varies that's gonna be kinda difficult. Just estimate it, you're not going to be scrimping down to the last pound are you?

might be worth looking into a train? would be cheaper if you booked in advance
For a return (540 miles) youd be looking somewhere between 40 and 60 quid, thats based on an average car.

Doesnt make that much difference if its diesel or petrol either. For 2 people, theres no way you could get a train for cheaper. I wouldnt think so anyway.

I'd say nearer to 60quid depending on the car..
Poor you - you'll have to leave at like 6-7am so you can arrive at a half-decent time before all the queues appear!

If you're coming all the way from edinburgh then seriously, dont go in June. I go to alton towers a few times a year, sometimes i stay in the hotel and make an expensive weekend of it. I usually go in April and can get on pretty much every ride a couple of times because the queues are non existant comapared to when I went in June last year and I got on 5 rides all day, it was such a waste of time and money. It took about 40 minutes to actually pay for the tickets to get in because there were so many people.

Its a lot of money but consider staying in the hotel and make a weekend of it. You get tickets into the park, breakfast, queue jumper for a few rides and early ride time where you can go into the park and ride Nemesis and Air for half an hour before the park even opens which is fantastic. One year we managed to get on Nemesis 8 times before the place opened!
