Leftists attack gay pride parade in Muslim area as racist

A gay pride parade organised by Swedish conservatives will be going through two areas which have 75% Muslim population.

The Swedish far left has criticised this as "racist".

It seems like the far left has made its choice. Islam > homosexuals. The far left will even praise theocratic fascist groups like Hamas, which calls for the death of all Jews worldwide and horribly oppresses women and LGBT people.

Leftists have become so nauseatingly hypocritical on this. I find this unsettling because I am of the centre-left myself. What happened to a political tendency that used to value skepticism, free enquiry and human rights? What happened such that they applaud religious fascists?

Going by what you've said (haven't read links), wow, I'm actually impressed for the so called lefties abilities to blindside me like that.

I must say, to assuage your fears somewhat, or console, that terms such as "left" and "right" are such vague terms; they have about 20 different meanings when in use.
Are these the same Swedish socialists that blame Swedish girls raped by Muslim immigrants for tempting them by dressing and acting provocatively?
Isn't the left meant to be about more freedoms rather than restrictions, or am I using an outdated version of the term?
It makes sense. Leftists or more accurately Marxists have a hierarchy of groups who are more valuable to their agenda of destruction of the Western world. Islam is more valuable to their aims than homosexuals are.
I think we can all agree that lefties are just violent thugs now. Sure the right may have some strong views. But the left will attack you unless you agree to their ideology. They are a joke

Got another source? Also, one far-left group (if they actually are, or this is true) =/= equal far leftist thought in general.
Are they organising this as a celebration of gay culture or because they are looking to wind people up? The far right have never been supporters of gays. Far from it in fact, they have been the source of a lot of homophobic violence over the years. It sounds more comparable to the Orange Order wanting to March through Catholic areas.

For a start, one left-wing pressure group in Sweden does not equal all leftists everywhere. Beyond that, I'd ask why a right-wing political party is organisng a gay pride march - are most of their members gay? I doubt it somehow. These should be organised by the LGBT+ community, not for them. Then they could decide where they want to march, and it would be understandable if they decided to go through the middle of town rather than a predominantly Muslim community.

Although I don't know how politically similar they are, I'm also wary because of a similar stunt the EDL tried over here. Having been prevented from successfully marching in Tower Hamlets, they organised a so-called "gay pride" parade to go through there instead. Obviously the vast majority of them have little regard for gay rights and if anything are homophobic themselves - they just wanted an excuse to spread their racist and anti-Muslim propaganda.

"Leftist thought in general" has bent over and taken it up the **** from radical Islam for at least a couple of decades.

Get with the programme.

Whatever the motives, I can't fault anyone who wants to put on a gay pride march  especially if in doing so they rub homophobic people the wrong way

That's the problem - 'Catholic areas'. It's not their area, it's the area of everyone. They don't own it, the government owns it. These people have the perfect right to be walking through.

Intellectually curious people read material from sources other than those which reinforce their prejudices. And then (if they disagree) rebut them with reasoned argument.

Cretins, not so much.

Which are you?

The left has genuinely never represented that.

Winding up homophobes seems like a perfectly valid reason for a gay pride march to me.

You misunderstand what I'm saying. I'm not saying they don't have the right to do it there, I'm saying I suspect they are doing it for the wrong reasons. The far right are no allies of LGBT people. P
