... that I like (sorry got posted by mistake). Do your parents treat you any differently? Or am I making a fuss over nothing? It's just a number!

Reply 2

Nothing changed at all for me, I had more of a fit over turning 20, but thats because I thought i should start being responsible. Either way - dont worry about it!

Reply 3

It's obviously a big Birthday because you're legally an adult. On the plus side if you go out a lot, then it's good at first having id and being able to buy drinks etc, there is obviously going to be more responsibility though, but that's just part of the next stage of life, it's kinda scary but nothing really to worry about. I turned 18 v recently, and nope my parents don't treat me any differently, the day you become 18 you don't suddenly become a different person (unless you want to). Just enjoy your Birthday, and think of all the things you're now able to do.

Well we all have to be responsible sometime. You'll always be a kid in your parents' eyes I think. And the most different thing will be your legal right to purchase and consume alcohol.

As you say, it's only a number, you don't magically and completely change overnight. I used to feel a bit anxious about turning 18 for more or less the same reasons, then before I knew it, I was 19. It's like you get used to an age only to get a year older.

Nothing changed for me... but, I'm really not looking forward to turning 22 this year... we'll leave that till another day though.

Reply 6

Things only change if you make them change.

Reply 7

no.

I didnt find it a big change, It was nice being able to legally buy drink, and other legalities but I actually found the 20th birthday much harder.. Maybe its the loss of being a teenager as the final hurdle to becoming an adult.

Reply 9

i think its less fun

because u can drink and smoke and its not illegal lol lose that thrill

Reply 10

it was a thrill? Its nice to sit in the pub and complain when the kids come in
No nothing much changes.
Technically you can get into nightclubs and buy alcohol legally.
And of course you can vote.

But nothing changes really on a day to day basis.

Reply 12

Oh I forgot About the fun of voting.. Oh the joy.

Reply 13

No.

You become an adult when you fully earn your living and don't depend on your parents anymore. Then you start paying bills. The joys.

My birthday is in a few days, im gunna be 18. Am I the only one who doesn't want to turn into an adult? The thought of being 18, an ADULT and being more responsible is not something

No.

Reply 15

Nothing changes - only that you will be more likely to be sent down for any dodgy stuff.

Reply 16

It all depends on whether you actually benefit from being able to do stuff you can when you turn 18. So unless you buy alcohol frequently, then no not really.

Reply 17

Just take my adivce, as tempting as it is - don't get into debt when you turn 18, as you will seriously regret it down the line.

Enjoy your birthday, get drunk, enjoy being abel to drink and erm vote but besides that just stay the same person as you are. Just because you are technically and adult don't mean nothing, you are still the same person and you will gradually learn from your mistakes, which you will make - and these in turn, will set you off into adultness.

I have just turned 21 and I still think of myself as young, although I have a lot more life experience now, made some mistakes but still stay at home, ha - just enjoy being 18 and still being a teenager and if it makes you feel better, you aint an adult till you 21 :P

Happy birthday!

I turned 18 a few weeks back. It doesn't suddenly transform you into adult material. All it does is makes you legal. And it feels great to flash ID and get what ever you want. Enjoy being an "adult" but remain a kid at heart forever.
