girlfriend says she has a 'crush' on me

basically i've always got the impression my girlfriend (i too am female if it makes a difference?) isn't all that into me - never gives compliments or says how much she likes me etc. i wouldn't expect it all the time, in fact would probly be annoyed if she said stuff like that all the time, the fact is she never says stuff like that. we've been discussing it and shes jus text me saying she's got a massive crush on me, which i thought was a little odd. isn't that the kind of the you say to a non-gf/bf? ie someone who you are hoping to get with and not someone you're already with
does anyone else find this weird or am i reading too deep into things here?
