Whenever I accelerate I hear a hissing noise, why?

I haven't had my car long, I'm quite sure this sound was not here beforehand.

I recently had replaced the EGR valve on my Focus, its a big job on these cars, the whole back of the engine come off to be honest with you

So I got my car back from the mechanic and as soon as I start driving away I could hear hissing every time I am accelerating, not overly loud but it can be heard.
I took it back to my mechanic, he test drove it but said he couldn't hear any hissing, he checked everything under the bonnet and said it all seemed fine, no loose hoses e.t.c

The mechanic did not put a new gasket on the egr valve, he used the old gasket, could that be the reason?

Could a faulty mass air flow sensor cause that noise?

I want to know, is it normal to hear a faint hissing sound every time you step on the accelerator ?

My car is a 2006 turbo diesel focus tdci,

Could just be the sound of the turbo spooling up?

Take it to a specialist and take them out for a drive, point out the noise, see what they say.
Sounds like a boost leak to me. Get the car smoke tested.
