The Great Big Valentine's Thread

;heart; The Great Big Valentine's Thread;heart;

It's this time of year again, when couples and singles alike fret for no good reason.

Please use this thread as a place to discuss presents, ideas for expensive and cheap activities - even for anti-Valentine's feelings.

(Usually threads like this would get moved to GD from H&R, but this is a special case so all our Valentine's threads will be moved to here.)

Enjoy! ;pkiss;

Me and my boyfriend are going out to a club with all our mates. We would be going whether it was Valentines Day or not.

I hate Valentines Day. I think it's really lame and I can't believe people make such a fuss over it.

It is a bit naff. My boyfriend knows to get me flowers but apart from those I'm not fussed. I'm arranging a big box with all his favourite snack foods in, and baking him some stuff, and tucking Football Manager underneath it all. Delightfully housewifey with a real present stuck in too lol. But as for all the restaurant business...it's always horribly busy on Valentine's night, the service will be awful and there's such a pressure on poor guys to be soppy that it can't be much fun. I'm just treating it like a mini-Christmas :biggrin:

As I'm not in work, I'll be going to Mass at 7pm to remember the martyr St Valentine and then to the Mothers' Union meeting where they're having a visit from those lovely folks at the Body Shop.

If the bloke who thinks he'd like to be my boyfriend and has tried to be my boyfriend tries to send me anything soppy, I think he'll be looking for his head under the altar or similar....

Last year it was my first V day in a relationship, after 20-odd sucky ones, so I wanted to do it properly, and we went out for a lovely meal, he got me roses etc. But although the food was amazing, it was twice the price it would have been normally, and the whole restaurant was set up with tables for two - it was like a "couples factory" or something! It just felt really artificial and conformist.

We also have the problem that our anniversary is only 6 days after, and we can't afford to do both properly. Last year for our anniversary we had a very drunken formal hall (same as the night we got together!) but this year I think we'll have a nice night out for that, and just relax on Valentine's day. All I really want to do is sit and watch crap films, eat doughnuts and drink wine - that'll keep me happy!

V day is on half term for me, but my bf will be in uni all week. Plus, with a certain expensive gift purchased today ( :biggrin: ) it'll just be a nice-home-cooked-dinner-and-hand-made-card evening :smile:

My boyfriend and I probably won't be going out but I bought him a couple of things. 'Just Cause' the PC game and a Family Guy T-shirt :smile:

my bf has already told me that because he's really skint, he's gunna write me a song, which is really sweet. I've no idea what on earth I'm going to do because we've only been going out since tuesday so it's not like a long relationship and I've never gone out with anyone before so not really sure what we're supposed to do. I can make him a card, but not sure what else. I'm also doing maths tutoring after school so we can't do anything until about 5ish and we've not been over to eachother's houses at all, and my family will all be there, so not sure what to do. I also don't really like the idea of Valentines day, doesn't appeal to me, but I think he likes it.

well we'll both be at uni at different end of the country! So he's coming down this weekend and we're going to a ball, that'll be our valentines day. He's skint so ive paid for his ball ticket and thatll be his present, although ill probably get him some other little things too! On the actual day, I'll probably sit and sulk because i'm on my own, he's going out with his housemates who are all in the same position!

Me and my boyfriend will just probably end up staying home and snuggling up on the sofa watching a soppy dvd or something lol Tbh though, i find that more romantic and affectionate than going out for a meal or any of that stuff. *big softie at heart* lol I've bought him some other lil things like aftershave and a few other pressies or he'd sulk lol

As I'm not with my boyfriend this year(I'm in Spain,he's in Britain) and I can't go to see him either, I'm going to make him a little film with me in it telling him why I love him and then email it to him.

I hope he likes it.:smile:

The usual question that pops up every year on here :rolleyes: I have no idea on what to get my bf for v.day. Something special, but also useful. Why are men so hard :frown: He is in his 20's. So ideas please, I'd appreciate it :biggrin: thank you.

I'm having an Anti-Valentine's Day party, but my crush is kind of mad about it. And doesn't want me to borrow his paint ball gun.

I'm going to stay with my boyfriend from Friday-Tuesday, so we're having our Valentines Day early. I'm quite nervous, cos although we've been going out for 7 months it's a LDR and I haven't met his parents yet, and I will be meeting them.
I think we'll just be watching movies, or going out.

Last year I bought my boyfriend his ticket to the strippers my Union put on for the night. This year noting has been planned and we haven't spoken about it. I may end up working.
