The Student Room Group
I'm not sure about the price, but I think they only give them out to people who don't have nearby accommodation.

yeah they said something about people who dont get uni accomodation and that like more than 5 miles away...and that will be me! so just wanted to knw a price really.

right, pretty sure it is £30 and you can get one from the student union.

thanks for that, im not a student at the mo, just wondering for sept! are they quite hard to get because so many people want them?

No, not really, just get it done pretty quickly when you get here and it will be fine. they dont give them out straight away too, so the first few weeks are mayhem, as no one has a parkiing permit!

You don't have to pay for a parking permit, but if you lost it a replacement permit is £15.
If you're living in University accomadation, you're not eligible to have one. But other students, eg living off campus have to have a return trip of 10 miles or over to be able to apply for one.

Hope that helps.
It also depends on how many other students have them, theres limited space on campus at the moment. although they did ruin the grass pitch for a while with cars. i would enquire at the SU if you get an offer from here. thats the best advice I can give.

ok thanks, ive already got an offer and accepted it for sept. i live about 7miles away from chester so will obv be driving! When do people start to ask for them? as im guessing as 2nd and 3rd yr students will already be there they will get them first?!
if you dont get a permit...where else is there to park?
I know im asking well in advance but just wondering!

I had a walk around the grounds today and I notice that there are several places in Church College Close yet the gate is locked.

So who uses these spaces seems a bit of a waste to me.
What time did you go round campus? They lock the gates at something like 10pm over in CCC, maybe I'm wrong but thats what I always thought. Willow, there are some places to park, such as Garden Lane and Bouverie Street, but these are usually quite hard to find, unless you're here insanely early, but even then the people who live there have the spaces. The only other thing except for a permit is the other roads round about the uni. I dont know of anything else, I live on campus and dont have a car. Sorry. The best thing to do is to ring the reception, they might be able to give you a better answer than we can.
