Hiroki asked for excluding accomodation.. so i doubt my general living expenses would vary much with college?

My 'battels' which include accomodation amongst other things (JCR brunch, trips, library fines, voluntary contributions to charity funds, matric photo etc) has worked out as £81.80 & £80.31 a week for the first two terms..& scared about next term's with all my vac. residence!

Helenia..my spreadsheet keeping has been described as 'anal'..
i find it quite interesting seeing exactly where all my money goes.. & this term has been hit by ball tickets, lost wallet & boatie related celebration meals/drinks & outfits! :frown:

Hehe! I don't have a spreadsheet, and don't keep very close track. I'm doing ok this term, but probably because I have barely been out the last two weeks because I've been trying to work. And failing.

I reckon I normally spend about £40-50 a week on food, going out and other stuff. Thats been like £20 in the last weeks, cause I aint been anywhere at all. I'll balance it out with some extra spendin in the next few weeks

about £40. But I spend a lot on food because I'm veggie and I only get free range eggs and fair trade tea and coffee so its expensive.

Tell me, how do I become an honourary Scot for loans purposes? I'm sure your system works better than mine, I'm poor too but the form says I'm not as it takes account of the last year's earnings my dad has, even though he doesn't work now. I don't know how that will work but I'll probably still get the standard £2000 loan. Poop.

hhhmmm so £100 a week should be plenty?.... good good ill be able to put some by for clothes etc!... thanks everyone!

but can i ask?! how can it be so cheap for everyone? surely u go out and u can easily spend £30 in a night... so what does that leave most ppls tallys with? £20 a week on food if you only go out once a week?... i dont have a clue it seems?... or is going out in oxford REALLY cheap?

hmm..i shall manipulate my spreadsheet for entertainment expenditure..lol

evening activities so far this week has included..

takeaway pizza, £11
post 8s party maxwells £15
salsa class & bar £5

i would don't think i've spent over £20 on one night out..maybe is it included a meal as well.. but most clubs ~£4/5 to get in.. nice cocktail places ~4 a drink (but i don't need many!) or alcopop pints for ~£1.50 & sometimes deals on doubles &mixers so they're cheap. walk there & back. oh & £1 for cloakroom. & £2 for food on way back!

You can easily spend less than £30 a nite if you carefully choose where you go and when!! E.g. £1 a drink nite!
