Difference between manchester uni and MMU

In case anyone wants to see the difference in the league table:

Manchester is 30th (much lower than I expected). Man met is 98th...
To be honest the rankings are just wrong! Mnachester is more like a top 15 university and Manchester Met top 70. I really wouldn't bother following them tbh.

There is no way that Manchester is rated as high as Cambridge though!:biggrin:

Manchester suffered a lot in the 90s from lack of a permanent vice-chancellor and the need for investment, and fell down the league table as a result. Since before the merger with UMIST it is coming back on strong, but may need a few years until the new infrastructure is finished. Manchester has never been rated overall as highly as Cambridge, but probably competes with Durham, York and Nottingham for the best Northern Uni.
