Being completley serious - would rather have that, then have a Tube down my Throat. !!

Seriously considering asking for a General Anesthetic.

Just soo scared.

Nope not at all, they give you something as another poster said to stop the gag reflex it just tingles at first but once it's in you won't notice it all all, your throat does hurt though after it mine did, when I had it done ages ago.
Sadly it does hurt, but the ones I saw were 'up the ass', So I'm not sure of how it will be like.

Going into Hospital for a Endoscopoy.

I'm having Throat sprayed with Local Anesthetic. And being given Valium to relax me.

Seriously apprehensive - terrified about having a tube down my throat !!

Will it cause me to gag & choke loads ??

Try not to worry, they should and will make sure that you are comfortable it will not be painful http://www.warwickhospital.nhs.uk/Info_For_Patients/Patient_Leaflets/1901_Endoscopy_6pp_DL.pdf

My dad has an endoscopy fairly often. He says it's not exactly comfortable and you can feel a bit sick, but it's not as bad as it seems at first and the anaethestic helps.
Sadly you can't have a general, because they need you to be responsive to instructions like "cough" and "deep breath". They do give you midazolam, which means that you won't remember much about the procedure when it wears off
I had an endoscopy in December and i don't remember much of it, I coughed a bit and afterwards I felt sleepy, some people fall asleep during the procedure, it wasn't at all painful, there was a nurse next to me who I vaguely remember talking to me and holding me hand and saying how well I was doing, when I was in recovery I felt a little dazy and they let my boyfriend come in once they had checked my blood pressure. It was fine, and with any luck you won't remember it anyway, just try to breathe through your nose, it will help you to stop coughing. good luck:smile:
I'm told it's not painful or overly uncomfortable.

There's also the one that Samuel Pepys was privy to, fed down the urethra. :s-smilie: They had an ingenious form of anaesthetic for this procedure in the past: after a couple of minutes you'd pass out with the pain, and feel not a jot more of it.

i had one put through my belly button. that was sore, and they pump you full of air so my tummy looked HUGE after :frown:. but you get over it, i'm still alive.

edit: oops, sorry, mine was a laparoscopy. same principle though i think.?

Not really... Both have cameras and both have tubes, but laparoscopy is invasive, whereas an endoscopy travels down the tubes you already have.
