When does the university academic year start/finish?

... for undergraduates? Is it the same as the school year (September - July), or does it vary with different uni's?

I'm not sure, but 4 of my options on track have Oct 07 and the other 2 have Sept. So it must be different, not sure when it ends though.

It depends on the uni, but will be roughly late Sept/early Oct to June. Most unis will have fairly clear links to their term dates from their homepages - are you thinking of anywhere in particular?

Thanks. In the 1st year of Uni, will people living in the halls of residence move in, say about a week before the term starts to settle in or do most go when the term starts?

Everyone moves in the weekend the contract starts, which is always the start of freshers week, so yes, you will move in the week before uni starts but you won't be able to move in the week before freshers week. For me, uni courses offically started on the 18th September, and I moved in on 9th September which was the first day of freshers week.
