UCL and KCL are by no way anywhere similar in terms of academic level. UCL is far ahead in that respect.

I have unconditional offers at both UCL and KCL and have to admit to being quite torn based on what ive read UCl is academically the better uni but KCL does seem much friendlier and the UCL accomadation really puts me off! What do other people think?

im not sure which department you will be at mmiles, but from what i have seen of UCL and KCL i would say that KCL looks more "fancier" UCL although has th erep blah blah i personally dont think its all that and im there already.

KCL looks "fancier"? Must be kidding me! Which uni has the best school of fine art and of architecture in the UK? UCL!

Which uni was voted by VOGUE as the hippest uni in England? UCL!

Which uni has been voted by the readers of PINK PAPER, the UK's leading gay and lesbian newspaper, as the best uni in the UK two years in a row? UCL!

It depends on the subject you are studying.

Anyone that uses a generalisation of the "reputation" of a uni over the reputation of an individual department is an idiot.

Honestly.. why are you spending so much time here in the Kings subforum?

Attitudes like yours really annoy me, just because someone's at Kings rather than UCL, doesn't necessarily mean they're there because they weren't good enough to go to UCL, or tried to get into UCL and failed, jeez how many times do I need to say this on this forum? University rankings are not the be all and end all of everything. And I sure as hell don't give a damn what Vogue or The Pink Paper think. Out of everyone here you're the only one who's talking nonsense.

Anywho, as for me I got my offer from UCL the other week so it's time for me to decide which one it's going to be now. And trust me the fact that UCL's 6th and KCL's 17th (or thereabouts) according to the Times is not going to swing it.
I'm applying to King's because they were one of only 3 unis in the south (and the only one in London) that offered the joint study I'm interested in. I consider it pointless for someone to say that those choosing UCL are more intelligent or hard working than me, since not only would nobody there be doing the same course I am, but also, judging by the entrance grades being asked of me and those of vaguely similar courses at UCL, both colleges are attracting applicants of equal academic ability.
Nothing to do with me, but I wouldn't touch KCL with a bargepole - they don't bother even to write a proper letter to reject a perfectly wonderful candidate. The buildings are horrible, the people are unfriendly. I strongly suggest anyone who has an offer from somewhere else should take that instead.
If everyone did it, that'd teach 'em to be so up themselves.
Bitter- moi? Ah, oui. C'est vrai.

Anyway...
Dark and lovely - do you call that a reply?
You can tell I'm cross, otherwise I wouldn't bother to ask!
Your post was really off topic..if you need to vent/get your anger out go to the gym, have sex or at least post in the KCL Applicants thread.
Obviously, not being a stupid person, I considered it was NOT "off topic" (although that's hardly good English) - since the thread appeared to be discussing a comparison between two London unis. I have now vented my disgust appropriately, in both of the most appropriate threads, so will probably manage without either of your very helpful suggestions.
P.S. Smugness is a very unattractive quality.

sorry to hear u were rejected! and sometimes it's okay to rant a bit...it really makes you feel better! don't worry about kcl, i'm sure you'll find a uni to suit you in the end...and there's always next year! cheer up:smile:
Thanks Garnet - you knew what I was on about - it did have to be done - it's all been a bit wearying!
Do have a couple of offers from lovely places with excellent taste, so all is not lost. But if LSE reject without sending a letter, I WILL SCREAM.

All unis reject without letters well most anyways-LSE certainly does, i think it's only Oxbridge that send letters...and i wasn't being smug i was just saying there are more fun ways to let your anger out. Also which building was horrible? I loved it when i visited!
