fat loss = increased body fat %age? wtf?

9 weeks ago, i used an online body fat %age calculator, which said my %age was 26% (before i began SERIOUSLY HARD exercise)

technically overweight (i am 5 feet 11, and then weighed 180 lbs)

now, the calculators say my % is 28. something - (my current weight is 158lbs)

So, accourding to these calculators (all of them say roughly the same - something between 24 - 28ish) i have a higher %age now - when i have taken 3 inches of fat from my waist, and 4 inches from my stomach! ( with a loss of 22lbs!)

wtf?

am i missing something?
Those calculators are garbage. Or you have lost around 3lbs of fat and the rest water/lean mass. Online calculators always overestimate bf vs bodyfat scales.
Bodyfat scales are also garbage

Only way to do it reliably is to get in a DEXA scan. Body fat calipers are probably the next best thing. Everything else is a very crude estimate.

You've lost weight, hence you have more than likely lost fat, lowering your body fat percentage by definition.
I'd suggest not getting hung up on bodyfat percentage and go by how you're looking and how much you weigh.
I don't believe actually onto these calculators.
