There is pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,There is society,
where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
From all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe,
and feelWhat I can ne'er express,
yet cannot all conceal.

Let's see if I can still do it from memory;

My mistress' eyes are nothing like the Sun
Coral is far more red than her lips' red
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head

I have seen roses damask'd, red and white
But no such roses see I in her cheeks
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath, that from my mistress reeks

I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant, I never saw a goddess go
My mistress, when she walks, treads on the ground

And yet, by Heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare

Mine is :

Beans, beans, good for your heart,
the more you eat, the more you fart.
The more you fart, the better you feel,
so let's have beans for every meal.

Do not go gentle into that good night
I would agree. Did you first hear it because of Interstellar?

no?
Oh right! I just thought...because of your avatar...

The poem features on the deluxe edition of the Interstellar soundtrack where it is recited by the actors.

Easily Valentine by Carol Anne Duffy for me. It gives me those tingles on the back of my neck.

I love No Man is an Island by John Donne. I like a bit of Larkin, too, but this is my favourite.

"O Captain! My Captain!" by Walt Whitman, or "There Is A Field" by Rumi. He's a 13th century Persian poet for anyone who doesn't know him.

I hate it when people are so childish - if you don't like poetry go and find a thread where you can talk about why it takes you three hours to get ready in the morning and allow the rest of us to enjoy some civilised conversation.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know
His house is in the village though
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep.

The Passionate Shepherd to His Love
By Christopher Marlowe
Come live with me and be my love,
And we will all the pleasures prove,
That Valleys, groves, hills, and fields,
Woods, or steepy mountain yields.

And we will sit upon the Rocks,
Seeing the Shepherds feed their flocks,
By shallow Rivers to whose falls
Melodious birds sing Madrigals.

And I will make thee beds of Roses
And a thousand fragrant posies,
A cap of flowers, and a kirtle
Embroidered all with leaves of Myrtle;

A gown made of the finest wool
Which from our pretty Lambs we pull;
Fair lined slippers for the cold,
With buckles of the purest gold;

A belt of straw and Ivy buds,
With Coral clasps and Amber studs:
And if these pleasures may thee move,
Come live with me, and be my love.

The Shepherds’ Swains shall dance and sing
For thy delight each May-morning:
If these delights thy mind may move,
Then live with me, and be my love.
