Wisdom Teeth Recovery

Right, I feel a bit silly posting this but I'm a bit of a hypochondriac and wondered if anyone could put my mind at rest.

I 2 wisdom teeth extracted last thursday at the hospital under a local anaesthetic. Didn't like it one bit but it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. I wasn't so bad with it over the weekend and hardly felt any pain, but now it's aching like mad and I have a funny taste in my mouth. I've been following the instructions and using salt water after every meal.

Basically I was wondering is this the norm and does anyone have any experience as to how long it's going to take to get back to normal?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

yeh i had impacted wisdom teeth as well. the first one hurt for a bit,but the second one that was done a year later, didn't really.after 2 days i think i was back to normal.it'll feel funny etc for about a week to 2 weeks but after that it should be fine.dont' fiddle with it etc, just leave it to heal and continue using your salt water and you should be fine

Thanks guys.

As for anonymous, don't worry too much about it. It really isn't as bad as you think. While it aches and is awkward it doesn't hurt as such. I heard all these horror stories and prepared myself for the worst and was surprised at how quick and painless it actually was. I just posted here because I wanted to know a couple of answers because I worry too much, hehe.

I had all my wisdom teeth and 2 other teeth out in October, it wasn't pain as such it was just a constant ache for me. I didn't eat for the first three days, mainly because I was scared of ripping the stitches then I was on tomato soup. My doctor advised me to take 2 weeks off school, but after a week I went back because I was so bored, and the swelling had gone down and I looked kind of normal. The only problem I had was that it really hurt to laugh. Everyone was surprised that I recovered so quickly.
