I used savlon on my cartilige and it worked wonders, don't know about surface piercings though

Savlon spray in a blue bottle with a pink lid can be used, but salt water is better. Savlon cream (and any other creams) should never be used.

Im using salt water (the finest organic sea salt i have you know  ) and i thought i would get some spray but i have cream at hand. Can you tell me why i cant use cream?

Reply 4

Oooh yes, sorry, that's what I meant. Forgot it came in a cream too
Salt water can be hell though. :|

I think cream like.. clogs the piercing and doesn't let it breathe?
Could be wrong though.

well i can imagine it softening the already damaged tissue and causing it to be a breeding ground for bugs but i wanted to double check

If you want to wash it, then cream is no good as you sorta put that on, and then leave it there. You don't wash it off afterwards. So it clogs the holes, and doesn't allow the piercing to drain. And thus it traps nasty germs there too.

You should be fine with just salt water (1tsp salt to 1pint water, ideally put it in a shot glass or similar and leave it on for 5 mins or so), but savlon spray is more handy if you're going out somewhere and need something to take with you. You can get salt water spray type things, but often they contain other stuff and probably aren't the right strength

Agreed. Creams just get stuck in the piercing and gather kack. I used savlon spray on my lip when I had it done. It worked wonders - I never suffered from any problems

If I had my lip done, I'd never do that as I'm sure it would taste vile :s:

I like the piercing trig
ooooooh my lord that looks painful.

I've never heard of anybody getting their nape pierced before.

I'm so sorry, I know you love it, it's just that - eee it's making me cringe!

There's a girl in one of my electives classes in uni that has that same sort of piercing in her wrist. Makes me wince every time I see it.

It's just that places being pierced that I'm not used to seeing pierced seem sort of eek.

Sorry that's totally OT.

Reply 14

I was going to get my wrist done but it wasnt advised :p:

Reply 15

Clean it with tea tree oil. It will disinfect it as well and won't clog it up. It works wonders

Reply 16

hmmm that might work...

Reply 17

Yeh most piercing places recommend it, they even sell it in special spray bottles. Smells nice too

Reply 18

saline solution. keep your hair up as well making sure that it's not brushing against the piercing because the oil in your hair could lead to an infection.

Reply 19

got tons of that at work. Is it strong enough though.
