My boyfriend told me that he needs to pleasure himself at least once every 3 days otherwise he will experience discomfort and pain. Is this true?

Depends...if by pain he means frustration..then yes...
Three days? It sounds a little farfetched, but it does hurt if you REALLY need to and you well, don't.

Nope. There wouldn't be any pain or discomfort. As above , just frustration. Sounds like a plea for sex.
