I have 2 weeks only to write my Msc dissertation of 15,000 words.
I have done all my research. But I have had terrible trouble writing for the last month. Basically I have been writing only about 100 words a day (maximum). I have about 2000 'done', but it's rubbish and I'm going to have to re-do it.
Terrible anxiety /procrastination /panic /despair /denial cycle going on. Normally I am one of those people that can write 3000 word essays in the 24 hours before the deadline and get good marks, but of course a dissertation is entirely different and now I am freaking out about the volume of work I have left to do.
Anyone got any success stories to share?
I really don't want to hear about how I am screwed, in need of a bit of hope here to keep me going!

Thanks :-)

Hey, I'm just wishing you good luck! I need the same help

Currently trying to finish my dissertation. Got 3000 more words to write by Sunday and even though I have research I feel like it's not enough and I've come to a standstill

I have another assignment (only 2000 words phew) to finish by Monday as well.

No success stories but I'm in exactly the same boat. I'm a last minute person but I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew this time. Not sure how I'll be manage 1k words/day for the next 2 weeks when it's taken me that long to write my intro. Will watch this thread and await magic solutions.

Big empathy and respect people. Buy a shed load of food and hibernate with laptop. Have a break doing something fun to restore sanity. Repeat until complete/deadline.

I'm writing my results section at the moment but other areas of my life are so complex at the moment so I'll be relieved to hand it in and I'm holding onto how good that will feel as my motivation

Wasn't there this guy who went to Warwick and did it in 48 hours and received a 2:1 (a few marks of a first I think). Search it on google I'm sure you'll find the story.

I have one month left including binding and I am petrified. Have far better things to be doing and my data is overcomplicated, poor quality, heavy statistics and has such a small sample size it's never going to produce a significant result. I have the main points of the literature review just about together and I know how it leads into my variables and methodology, but it still needs fleshing out to about 3000 words. I hope I can get that done in one long dark night of the soul and then write as I go along with the data analysis.

Good luck to all and I will definitely be bookmarking this thread!

You can do it!

That's what I keep telling myself anyway aha. So I've got roughly 3000 words left of the critical review and I really would like to get it done (even if only a rubbish version) to be able to show my supervisor at 1pm tomorrow. So just under 17 hours. What do you think? Doable?

Oh it's great to know I'm not alone! Seems to be a few of us in a similar boat. Let's try and get through this together :-)

48hours?! :-o Eeek he must be a genius, that's all I can say!

Hoping there must be a few non-geniuses out there who have pulled off a 2 week feat...??

In a very similar situation with needing to write 1,000 words a day for the next couple of weeks having struggled to write half that in a day until now and not entirely due to me not managing my work properly.

So after procrastinating all day I've managed to do the research for and write 1000 words for my first objective. Yaaay.

Only two more to do before my meeting tomorrow good luck me.

Anybody else staying up late tonight?

I don't understand how any of you can leave an important project at the last minute, then start moaning because you've only got two weeks to do it! You've only got yourself to blame! Prioritise yourself and be more organised! No sympathy from me. Stop getting drunk, be a responsible adult and grow up.

Not sure who this is aimed at but woah! Who's getting drunk? Nobody's moaning about it, no sympathy is required, we all know it's our own fault and we're just supporting each other through it.

Some of us also do have reasons why we have left it until last minute but discussing those won't get anything done.

Cheer up!

Impressive. I'm not sure you can procrastinate all day and get that amount done, but fair play. Good luck with the meeting.

A few facts for you: 1. I am 32 years old. 2. I am teetotal. 3. I have cancelled every social engagement in the last 2 months so that I can work on this project. I do not need to justify myself to you. I do not care whether or not you understand, and I do not want your sympathy. Take your judgemental self righteous attitude elsewhere.
