Do women really just want a 'Mr Average'?

Are high-flyers less attractive in your experience?

Women prefer men who do not have top careers, according to scientists at the University of Central Lancashire.

The researchers said women seemed to feel high-flyers would not be good fathers, commenting that attractive and successful males may concentrate on "a mating strategy" rather than on parenting.

Are high-flyers unattractive? Do highly successful men just concentrate on a "mating strategy" in your experience? What do you look for in a partner?

I think women want mr 9 inches ._.

on a serious note, some women want this, some women want that etc etc...
Do we really need so-called 'science' that attempts to provide a single definitive statement for all women, ignoring the vast differences between individuals?

Do we really need this waste-of-space research cluttering up our science news pages?
Why have silver when you can have gold?

Do you know what I'd pick the accountant guy not the mega hot one because
a) he can provide for our kids and me financially, security is important to me because I've spent alot of time shunting from pillar to post
b) you can have an interesting conversation and to be that well paid he must have once had to be a little geeky
c) there's something quite hot about a guy whose slightly chavunist, a trait that comes with career blokes

saying that I'm biased, I'm with an accountant now and as a lowly student it makes me smile.

I'm applying it to the people in those positions I've met. I live with professionals (a manager of a chain store (not like Maccys his on 25k and he has the best store in the country performance wise) and an accountant. Round our house the most is the accountant's brother; a solicitor and the manager's friend; a journalist.

These four high flyers make cracks about a woman's place being the kitchen and refer to me and the only other girl (manager's missus) as Wench or Wenchface. Our roles are clear and comments about how we can't ever be as good at our jobs as them because woman aren't as good performers, etc, etc. That might be the wrong use of chauvinist but it's definitely sexist. Every other professional I've met is like that. It's not an insult it's a statement, I find it sorta hot.

yes as initial mate as attracted by "power and salary"
as you get older you realise it doesn't really make for a happier life together esp as you have children
hence mens comments women "belong in the kitchen"

you realise~

Men actually believe this comment

as women life is actually easier and more fulfilling if you actually go along/accept this, you get the enjoyment of looking after your children and you get the freedom of switching your career if you so do wish as teh man supports you . For men it is more difficult esp if you have dependents/

yup add in a geeky side and you got my dream lad. Doesn’t matter if they are a high flyer or not it the person im interested in as for the research peoples views change and if they like someone but they don’t fit what they had dreamed of they most probably will still go with them.
I don't want a Mr Average. I am perfectly confident that a good looking, intelligent and capable man can also be a good father. Not all are, but then again, not all seemingly average people are good parents either.

My father is very good looking (for a 53 year old), very intelligent and very ambitious. He is also a wonderful daddy.

And I've got my man  and I think he will make a great father. He isn't average. He is wonderful. Just because you don't have looks to rival Brad Pitt and a Jaguar, doesn't make you average.

No what they want is some Tibia loving

Sorry for lowering the thread with my comment. So i'll contribute. Women want Mr Average because there is less chance he might bugger off. Just like muscley (spell checker isn't working) guys. There more succesful and good looking the guy is the higher the chance of him going away and meeting someone else. That's how the blonde gene came to be and spread in Europe.
