How generous are the Cambridge Trusts?

I asked my friend from Thailand and it seems that that is a large part of the offer.

My situation is much more complicated. I was a medical student in India. I took a break. Started working as the editor of a medical journal in London year ago. Applied to Cambridge as a transfer student on the advice of several scientists and the editor-in-chief of the journal for which I work. Cambridge said they were keen (yes, they actually said that) to take me afresh. And to this end called me for an interview. And now, I have an unconditional offer. I'm going to ditch a career in medicine in order to take up sciences, if the funding is sorted out.

Yes, of course, I have to show that I can cover my fees. But, it is enough if I meet them by 31 August. Before which, the outcome of my application to the Cambridge Trusts for bursaries will be known, as will any other sources to which I apply. Those will, of course, be towards my course fees and living expenses.

I'm trying to arrange for my funding as soon as possible, as there are no guarantees that the Trusts will grant me the bursaries I request.
