Always the same.....

Again and again I read a thread here on 'does he/she like me', etc etc etc. I foiund it annoying, but then.....I happen to be in class and a girl asks me, have you ever had a girlfriend? It seemed as if she was laughing at me like "you loser" or something, while I certainly am not a nerd, take care of my hygiene, dress well and am always 'nice ' (not too much, but polite).

Yes, I have had a girlfriend a really long time ago. But I'm only 18 and I want my freedom. I enjoy being 'lonely' in a relationship-sense. I dont want a relationship yet, have too much on my mind.

So, what should I think of this? Just an annoying comment to ruin my day before the weekend. Don't ask why it affected me so much, it just did, my confidence level is always low, but this was just annoying and can;t stop thinking about it.

Thanks for any suggestions, don't want to sound like a wimp, I just get affected by certain comments such as these.

Thanks everyone.
I'd be annoyed by that too - that girl sounds stupid and just ignore her because if you're happy then that's all that matters, being in a relationship obviously isn't everything and if she thinks it is then she's very shallow. Don't let it ruin your weekend because if she's going to laugh at you over pointless things like that then she's not worth listening to and it doesn't matter what she thinks. You know you're a nice person and enjoy being single so this girls immature comment doesn't mean anything.

Thanks for your reply. It really annoyed me to bits. I'm generally easily annoyed, just a confidence thing that many teenagers face. Anyway, hope she doesn't do it again, and although I'd like to speak to her about it, I don't know how she would react with something like this.

Thanks Naz, I hope I can put it behind me soon....just don't know WHY she said it. She never said things like that....it caught me off guard. I just answered "um...yea, of course", "what kind of question is that?" and stuff like that to sort of defend myself before people made up more crap in class.......really didnt appreciate it.....

I dont mind that she asked me, but I want to know her intentions by saying it. Is it because I'm ugly? Silly? Stupid? Whatever it is she thinks, it bothers me....no matter how elementary I find her.
Just ignore her, she sounds immature.

LOL, I feel like such a jackass, it's weird that as an 18 year old I still feel affected by these sort of things....I hope she was indeed just taking the piss.

Thanks again.
Or perhaps she was just curious? Did she say it in a particularly malicious way? Like "have you ever had a girlfriend?"

Hey matt, indeed I thought about that scenereio (trying to tell myself that she said it that way) but it was in a way to piss me off, as in.....pffft, you've never had a girlfriend right? Something to that tone....wasn't the best....
why are you on anonymous?

LOL, cause she was glancing over the site recently.....maybe she'll find this, if she does, whatever. I just want to get it out of MY system.
