New subject in clearing?

Is it worth doing this or does it reduce your chances a bit as unis might see you as indecisive or something?
also though what would you need to do to prepare for applying to a new subject in clearing?

What matters is you doing a course you want to do. They are keen to fill courses with people who want to do them. If you can convince them that that is the case, then they will take you if you have what they are looking for. You may need a new PS, so writing one now will get you prepared and also help you work out if the new course is really what you want to do.

Thank you  would there only be a sort of phone interview or could there be a case that they would want a new PS sent off to them?

That's very much dependent on the kind of course it is and the way the universities want to play it. If a course normally requires an interview or a portfolio or an additional test of some kind, these things will still apply in clearing.
