Ok i've read on here recently abouts some people who prefer stockings to tights, firstly why is this and secondly the main problen i have with tights is they keep falling down (not completely, the waistband tends to stay where it is and i end up with the crotch down by my knees) does this happen to anybody else and does wearing stockings remedy this?
That is a problem with tights. However, the main advantage with tights is that they can be worn with any knickers, whereas I don't think this is the case with stockings - you need knickers that you can attach the suspenders to. I suppose stockings also mean you don't look like you've got an elastic band tied round your waist. Worst-case scenario is that the suspender snaps and down comes your stocking. Plus I'd guess they're more expensive to replace. Holdups are another solution but I find the only problem with these is that after a while the rubber stops being clingy enough and just won't stay up. Again, they're slightly more expensive to replace than tights.
I just use hold ups, I haven't had the rubber bit fail on my yet, but I do have a bad habit of making holes in them before they could get a chance to lose the stickiness. Stockings can be useful, you can wear pants with them, you will need a suspender belt which the stockings attach to. Can be quite pricey.
I hate tights, I only wear them occasionally when I have to wear a smart skirt that is too short to wear pop socks with lol! I tried hold-ups once but that went bad...the elastic really digs in but it doesn't hold up for all that long...in the middle of the street I realised the hold-ups were nearly down to my ankles! So embarassing, really not good lol. If your skirt's long enough for the tops not to show, pop socks are a way comfier alternative to tights Never tried stockings but they look like they'd make more sense than hold-ups, as you have something to keep them up.
Yeah the knee-high ones lol! Not very stylish but as long as your skirt is long enough it just looks like you're wearing tights without the irritating gusset problem haha!
you can get some stylish knee high ones that can look good with a skirt that comes to just above the knee. I've seen a few people with them and never really thought that it looks silly, more cute and quirky.

Knickers to attach suspenders too? why not just wear a suspender belt?
Just wear another pair of knickers over the top of them, black french knickers over black tights hold them up and you cannot tell you are wearing two pairs!!

I always ladder stockings, everytime i want to wear some, i have to buy a new pair, i have one pair that i havent laddered! i get mine from tk maxx, so it doesnt matter so much when they get ripped. ive also got a couple of suspender belts from tk maxx for about £5, and its worth looking through the clearance bins in la senza as well.
hold ups ftw, i wear them nearly everyday as i have long legs and tights are a pain. never have to worry about suspender belts showing up through tight pencil skirts, they're comfortable, stay up and look sexy. Perfection
I'm not a big fan of tights. I have to wear them at work and they're always falling down. My skirts got a smooth polyester lining thats always clinging to them so its a right pain trying to pull them up. I've never really considered hold ups or stockings but i only wear them at work and i'm forever putting holes in them so i just go for the cheapest option.
Hold ups are the way forward! Tights are horrible and the tops always look so icky. I love suspenders but wearing a suspender belt sometimes jsut isn't appropriate and can look too chunky whereas hold ups are the perfect compromise (as long as your skirt isn't too short in case you see the lacy bit at the top).

Precisely what I do I'm 5'11 and getting tights which don't fall down in the crotch area is impossible! So I wear a pair of knickers over the top, s'long as theyre tightish, and I usually wear boxer type ones and nobody knows
I've just started wearing stockings(hold ups - suspender belts are too much hassle!) and they are so much nicer than tights...no waistband showing 4 inches above your skirt, no waddling like a penguin, no feeling like superman on an off day! definitely better than tights!
I'd prefer to wear stockings but haven't found a reasonably priced suspender belt anywhere, except a clearance one on the Ann Summers site for £2 a while ago, but they didn't have it instore . Stockings are more hygienic too, they keep your bits cooler than in tights and that makes it less likely you get thrush and cystitis. Also, they're more economical in the long run (same with hold-ups) - if you ladder your tights, you have to get a whole new pair. Buy two pairs of the same stockings, if you get a ladder in one leg, just throw it away and keep on using the other three legs.
I hate the sizing on tights. Sometimes I have to buy the tall ones, as I'm fairly tall anyway (I think) and sometimes they aren't long enough and the crotch of the tights ends up in the wrong place.
