The Student Room Group
I was forced to do the Bronze DofE by my mum! I really didn't want to do it so during the practice expedition I told my group that I had taken ecstasy (I hadn't) they told the leader and I got kicked off of DofE. Simple! My parents were fuming but at least I didn't have to do it! Also I hadn't done anything for the volunteering, physical or skills sections hahaha

I never wanted to do bronze and I absolutely hate it. I know it looks good on C.V.s but I am stuck with volunteering. My parents won't listen so I am going to quit without them I don't care what any of you say. Just please, please, please, tell me how to quit it....

Contact the place your voulenteering at and let them know that you wont be going in future. Simples.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL. Funniest post I've seen all day.

OP, just tell your head of year to take you off the list and have you replaced with someone else?

I did try that but they don't let you quit unless you have a health issue, because it costs so much for DofE and so many other people were willing to do it at the start but didn't get in

But surely they can replace you with someone else if there were so many people willing to do it to begin with?

Only if you quit at the very beginning because you have to do a lot of training for it as a group, plus it takes six months for one of the different sections to pass the DofE

Wow. I would have just tried to convince my parents to not do it in the first place. If that failed, then I'd just do it I suppose.
Just don't show up, or at least tell the people you're helping you won't show up. Even if your parents force you out the house just go out with mates or something

They will let you quit. You probably won't give you a refund on anything you've paid for you registration or any expeditions but they cannot force you to continue.
I got kicked out because a member of my group didn't like me she kept on whining about how you shouldn't do it for your CV you should do it because you enjoy it, I don't understand how anyone can find it enjoyable, for me it was a nightmare (2 and a half hours after school looking at stupid powerpoints) and we also did a day walk but my whole group were walking at a glacial pace so I just walked ahead and got in trouble. You could just cause problems eg not contribute in planning for the expedition and maybe a group member will complain. Or you could get a group member to make something up about you that would get you kicked out.
I don't think DofE is really worth it for CV's since so many people do it.

Just dont do it simple as! Quit all the sections and fail the practice expedition on purpose, then they arent allowed to make you do the main expedition.
I did all the sections for Silver and bailed just before the practice expedition.

But that was cause my group weren't nice people and helped give me depression - just took me a hike to realise.

You won't get any refund but you just have to let your dofe coordinator know.

No ****ing around dofe is **** and a waste of time , who actually wants to be walking miles in rain with a heavy back pack on and with ***** of instructors , trying to sleep in a *****y tent and waking up at 6:00am , bored me to death , overall boring. I had a good group of lads but we all found it **** so in other words don’t go dofe you won’t enjoy any of it.
i have done the practice expedition, but i really don't want to continue as the day after we got home i was throwing up and i feel really ill, my mom won't let me quit so im just gonna ask my teacher to write me out of it as i really dont want to continue
I have an injury so I can’t actually do the expedition and I can’t continue with the physical. Should I just not complete the sections and tell them I can’t do the expedition when it comes round to it?
