Hi! Don't know if this is of any use, but you did say anything! It's taken from an old A-level psychology book of mine and is basically a v v brief explanation.

It says:

"A study carried out by Murstein (1972) supports the matching hypothesis. In this study, photographs of the faces of 'steady or engaged' couples were compared with random couples (i.e. pairs of individuals who were only together for the purpose of the photograph). The real couples were consistently judged to be more similar to each other in physical attractiveness than the random pairs, Murstein summarised the findings of the study thus: 'Individuals with equal markey value for physical attractiveness are more likely to associate in an intimate relationship such as engagement, than individuals with disparate values.' "

It's from a book called "Psychology for A2 level" by Cardwell, Clark and Meldrum- the 3rd edition published by Collins.

Hope that helps! x
