Hi, so I've recently turned 18 and I've been single for was seems like an eternity. I've had one relationship including during primary school when I was 16, seeing a 15 year old. Unfortunately that ended really badly and my confidence came crashing down and ever since I've had no one and it does get me down. I get told quite often that I'm a good looking guy and I'm always socialising, but I am really shy :/ I hope uni will bring me confidence...is it bad that I've only had 1 GF my entire life?

Its okay, theres loads of people in the same sitch. At uni there will be so many different types of girls, I'm sure you'll be able to find someone. If you're always socialising this will deffo make you more attractive to girls. We all want someone fun haha, don't worry you'll find someone soon!
And no its not bad at all, its commendable! Some people just get into relationships with anyone haha

im 16 and i have never had a 'real' relationship where someone was my gf/bf. i have had soooo many crushes but owing to the fact i experience same sex attraction and im not really out these never go anywhere. you are not alone. really. most people dont have a single relationship under their belt. you are doing well to be honest.

It isn't bad at all. There's no good or bad number of relationships to have at any age. Lots of people won't have had any relationships, some will have had lots, none of them are necessarily model lifestyles.

I find that the expectation of how experienced people think they should be at 18 (or 21, or 25) tends to be way above the reality, and people massively underestimate the number of people just like they are, maybe because the media promotes the concept of youth promiscuity so loudly and the handful of people who have lots of relationships are usually more conspicuous as well.

I'm pretty sure the number of girlfriends you've had won't define who you are as a person. You've plenty of time ahead of you.

Well I'm 18 and never had a boyfriend so you're doing better than me! Seriously, I expect the average person our age has maybe has 2 serious relationships, you're not far off that and I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with you.

Even though I admit I myself am a socially inept loser, I have plenty of friends and acquaintances who aren't at all and have only ever had 0-1 relationships.

I feel ashamed about my lack of experience too at times, but I'm sure university will bring new opportunities ☺️
