How does one do that? Are we talking inclusive feminism, radical feminism, post-modern feminism, or what?

Wikipedia says "Feminism is a range of movements and ideologies that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve equal political, economic, cultural, personal, and social rights for women. This includes seeking to establish equal opportunities for women in education and employment. A feminist advocates or supports the rights and equality of women."

In other words, in the interest of equality, if the government gives a man two apples he should also give a woman two apples. Not a hard concept to grasp, though apparently it is for some people (and no doubt these people will raise their heads in rebuttal to this post).

From there it branches off into specific areas of interest, for example, women's representation in the media, equal job opportunities, etc.

Unfortunately some feminists have taken this further and seem to want women to become some kind of socio-political elite (part of radical feminism). And it's this kind of feminism that people mouth off about, all the while under the misconception that this is feminism, conveniently ignoring the fact that most feminists don't ascribe to this view; most just want equality.

Someone put it brilliantly a while back, but I can't remember the exact wording. It was to do with employment, and was something along the lines of "feminism isn't concerned with one female being employed for a company for every male that's employed by the same company, but more that women are given an equal opportunity to be employed." They put it far more eloquently than I, but that's the gist of it.

It's not a perfect social movement, and there are still plenty of kinks to be worked out (mens rights where women are favoured, etc. Thankfully more feminists are taking this issue in hand these days, albeit it a relatively small amount compared to those who, say, didn't stop whining about the comparably arbitrary page 3 issue), but it's getting there.

What it should be about is complete equality between genders, but unfortunately it isn't a lot of the time. But yeah of course it depends on which type.

outcry of lack of female representation in well paid office jobs.

No outcry at lack of female representation in low paid manual jobs (sewerage workers for example)

Starting an international campaign to ban a word because women don't like being called it (which if you ask me is pretty bossy)

And at the same time ignoring the slaughter of 200 women by boko haram.

feminism = hypocrisy
