Johan is a geek! ;D

I'm doing the "easy" modules. I.e. MA107 and ST107 and I really love them, as MA107 focuses on practical applications of maths in economics, whereas as far as I know MA100 is more of a pure-maths type of module, though there are some overlaps (like matrices for example - FP2 A level stuff I believe). ST107 has a very nice lecturer who is really helpful and sacrifices a lot of his time outside his office hours to help people. ST102 on the other hand has the most boring lecturer ever (I did MA100 and ST102 at the start but after seeing what my lectures in stats look like, I changed to MA107 and ST107!).

Though MA107 and ST107 count as one module and therefore you will need to take an outside option- in the first year only 3 full modules out of the 4 you do (with the highest grade in the end) are counted towards the final mark. I'm doing AC100, EC102, MA107, ST107, IS143 (the same modules as Management Sciences people).

IS143 is absolutely kickass if you've wondered how the internet developed, how is encryption and privacy designed to protect people, file sharing systems and their implications etc. Really nice stuff

Your subjects somewhat resemble those in Bsc Management, first year. that's cool:wink:

Btw. have all of you seen that they have changed usual standard offer for almost all subjects. It is 37 now, and almost everywhere 766 HL. Do you know does this include bonus? :s-smilie:

Sure no problem. But if you chose to do a degree in maths then you must've felt quite confident with it, therefore MA107 and ST107 should be no problem for you. Honestly, if I don't get like 85%+ in MA107 I will die of embarassment! On the other hand, my ST107 is terrible

But yeah, I'll pm you my msn.

Why would you want to do the easy modules in your first year, considering they have a minuscule weightage compared to modules done in your second and this years?

Economics is still 38, but they changed it from 666 to 766. :frown: And yes, that includes bonus.

But maths is no essay, you have to understand that MA107 is really easy, I think Johan would agree.

Because in my 2nd year I'll be doing Logic which is easy?

Third year maybe MA207 and ST207, depends how stats goes because that, my friend, is a disaster for me :P

It's not ! But I think the textbook for MA107 is excellent, and if you enjoyed A level maths then MA107 is like A level Maths+Further Maths but with economic applications. =)

That point will be your first year... and your second year.. and maybe 3rd year

Trust me, economics is fun, I enjoy it far more than accounting.

Oh crap, I'm doing a degree in Accounting! ¬_¬

LOL

My economics teacher now says that i shouldn't assume that A-Level economics is liek anything at university. Apparently it's a lot easier to understand (and as you said "fun").... i hope so anyway!

Completely true. What they teach you at 'A' level is just the tip of the iceberg. A melting one at that. You learn brief theory, which does give you a decent overview of economic theory, but fails to demonstrate anything deeper than that.
