Need help with choosing an English dissertation topic :((((

Hey guys,

I need help choosing an English dissertation topic. My previous one was too broad and vague, and I don't know what to do. I've been thinking for 2 weeks and no question is coming to me.

All I know is that I want to write on gender roles, more specifically how women and men are portrayed, or how it is linked with metaphors within certain types of fiction etc.

I do English Literature, and I was going to add how gender affects the psychological mind or maybe that doesn't work..

A year ago this summer I was in the same situation as you, don't worry about your dissi being too vague or broad at this stage, it will become more narrow and specific as your research continues.

Try looking/researching some theorists in relation to gender roles and gender psychology, then consider which literature texts you think can relate to this and why.

at these stages, Wikipedia is your friend, use it to get brief overviews of texts and theories you may consider driving into at a later date :smile:
