    Hi I just wanted to know what other people got the answers to be (checking if I am right):

    When solid iodide was warmed with concentrated sulphuric acid the following products were obtained:

    NaHSO4, HI, S, SO2, H2S, I2

    State which of these products were formed by reduction.
    State which of these products were formed by oxidation.

    i assumed we're talking sodium iodide - not solid....

    in which case:

    NaHSO4 - Neither (no change in oxidation number)
    HI - Same again
    S - Reduction (From +6 to 0)
    SO2 - reduction (From +6 to +4)
    H2S - Reduction (From +6 to -2)
    I2 - oxidised (From -1 to 0)

    that's my guess

    I get the same,

    S, SO2 & H2S - are reduced

    Well u can say NaHSO4 is formed by reduction .. Becuz Reduction is the gain of H2 [ thats what i think ]

    well reduction is gain of electrons, which normally comes from addition of [H] - however in the case of NaHSO4, adding H to Na does not reduce Na, because Na does not accept the electron, it is the oxygen that holds onto it
