I'm a second year, and the president of the University Hall JCR. Your JCRs have been working to put together freshers week and getting all of the events put onto a wristband- don't buy tickets for anything like icebreaker, they're massive scams. Only buy tickets from your JCR or from the Students Union.
I got an email from bristol about 9:30 this morning:
Congratulations! We are delighted to confirm your place to study Biochemistry (BSc) at the University of Bristol, starting in September 2015.
We will be sending you a printed copy of our registration guide around 20 August, which gives you details about what to expect for Registration and Welcome Week. You can also find the registration guide on our new students website. Please make sure you register online by the deadline stated in the guide ready to start your course.
On our new students website, you can read our checklist for what to do before you arrive, start exploring all that student life at Bristol has to offer, and find practical support for your studies. Discover our vibrant students' union, places to see, and all the activities planned for Welcome Week. If you're on Twitter or Instagram, use #startbristol to tell everyone you're joining us. You can also find other new students on Tagboard.
We look forward to seeing you in September; and hope you enjoy the remainder of your summer holiday.
Hi there! Any international student out there who gets their CAS yet? I'm doing Accounting&Finance, by the way.
I haven't got mine. Got a congrats email this morning. Has anyone booked their freshers party tickets? I am actually very unhappy with my results. Oh well, got into Bristol anyways.

Don't buy tickets for freshers week yet!

Icebreaker is awful, its put on every year at 5 times the average ticket price for at whatever club it is and its not even a special club night.
Basically, go where the people you're living with are going! Trust me when I say the best nights are the ones where everyone in your hall goes out together

LISTEN TO THIS GUY!
It's true, they are always ''almost sold out'' and those people I knew who bought tickets never ended up going to the 'events' because the JCR's put on events themselves. Better to wait and speak/buy tickets from your JCR President as that's where your'll find the most people your'll be living with. There's also a lot of questionable Facebook freshers groups that claim to be 'official' but are really just their to sell/scam you out of your money.
As a second year this is the most important advice I could give to new first years.
So just to double check, don't buy any tickets yet, wait for the SU to sort it out?
Yep, exactly this. The Union has got it all sorted out- once you get your accommodation allocation you'll get a link to a website with the timetable for your freshers week on it
