Lost the ring my boyfriend gave me

I have lost the ring my boyfriend gave me :-( I have been searching everywhere I may have left it. I'm sure I left it in my bathroom but I have checked so many times and it's not there. I am thinking about buying another one but I know it won't be the same. Plus it may (hopefuly) turn up. But I wouldn't want to buy a new one and let my boyfriend think it was the one he bought for me, I don't want to lie to him.
What would other people do? Tell him I have lost it or buy a new one and don't tell him.
I feel so so bad

Buy another one that looks similar- I'm sure he will not notice

This reminds me of that friends episode when monica looses the earrings Chandler gave her and it turned out it was Ross that picked them out so when Monica wore similar earrings, Chandler had no idea that they were not the ones he gave her :P

Just tell him, it was an accident, he has no reason to be (overly) mad at you.

Firstly..that's soo cute your bf got you a ring. Secondly..that is true about guys just not noticing stuff.. lol but i do think you should tell him. You shouldn't feel bad, he can't get cross at you or anything.

Tell him in a really upset way. He will be touched ...

I dunno if your boyfriend is anything like mine, but when i was really upset cos i lost the necklace he bought me, (it did eventually turn up) he was really understanding and even promised to buy me another one. Tell him, things get lost, **** happens, he shouldn't be mad at you, he may even offer to replace it.

You don't want to lie so just tell the truth

I lost a verrryy expensive tiffany necklace from my boyfriend, i rang him bout 10 mins after I lost it a blubbering mess and he was like aww stop being silly its only a necklace. Thank god it turned up (it was in the corridor of someone elses flat). I dont think he would be mad at you, i'd tell him, i'm sure he'd understand

Don't worry, just tell him the truth, he'll understand.

Last November, I lost the Tiffany bracelet my boyfriend had bought me, so I rang him crying down the phone and he just told me to stop being silly and that he'd help me look for it. Crying may help, he'll be so pleased you care enough to cry over it/him, and I'm sure it will turn up.

P.s Check in the plug holes/U-bend, and under the bath mats/piles of towels, I've lost a ring in the bathroom before and that's where it turned up!

Awful lot of tiffany floating around in this thread, just think girls Valentines Day is almost upon us!

Seriously now tell the truth, cry and then tell him how much he means to you. It'll be fine!

Oh dear you're screwed lol. Ok depends on what kind of guy your bf is like

Thanks guys you were a great help. I rang him up told him and he was fine about it, he said well it can happen to anyone and he offered to buy me a new one. It will probably turn up but I dont want there to be any secrets between us so it was better that I told him. :-)

If my girl bought a different ring and I found out, I would be furious and insecure that she lied to me.

If she told me non-chalantly, I would understand but would question why it wasn't a big deal to her.

If she called me crying, like you did, she would probably get a more expensive ring from me.

a ring's just a ring - another one can always be brought. the fact that you care that you've lost it is the most important thing in my opinion; that transcends the actual ring and its presence/absence itself.
