Wrist really hurting?

Well my left wrist has started hurting over the past few days, i do heavy lifting at work so i may of just injured it there, but everytime i put my other hand around it and squeeze it slightly i can feel the bone moving. I know its not broken because i can still move it, but why is the bone moving?
Any ideas to ease the pain? Thanks.

RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation.

Ibuprofen.

If it's still bad in a couple of days, consider calling NHS Direct or seeing your GP.

Okay. At least make sure your colleagues and/or supervisor are aware that you have sprained your wrist. If you have a decent boss, s/he will allow you to focus on less strenuous tasks for a couple of days while your injury recovers. (There may actually be a legal requirement for them to do so; I'm not sure.)

I get that sometimes but put it down to breaking it really badly 11 years ago, (still aches in cold weather). I agree that you'd know if it was broken. Maybe you've twisted it slightly or bruised the bone? Just keep it warm and don't prod it to feel the bone moving, you'll only make it worse. It might help to bandage it up fairly tightly so it doesn't get jerked around too much.

keep it warm

In my experience, it's only a good idea to warm the affected area when you want to encourage blood flow (and healing ) after a few days, once the swelling has gone down. In the first instance, application of ice with a cloth is probably the best idea; this will control the swelling.

I definitely agree with a tight bandage though. That will provide both compression (to help reduce swelling) and support.
