Next year I am going to be starting a Sociology GCSE, and would like to prepare for it beforehand, but as it's not a very common GCSE at my school we haven't been given much information about it. I think it's with AQA, but I'm not sure. Is there anything anyone could suggest I read or find before starting? Thanks if you can help!

If you're doing AQA I really recommend this book:

This book, it isn't very useful. I've tried this and the actual AQA one. They just give you a brief idea of the topic. If you really want to excel I recommend this book.

Also, on the topic of succeeding, watch the news everyday, trust me, it'll help once you get to unit 2 (and the family side of unit 1)

I reccomend this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1408...R-L&ref=plSrch

This is the actual one created by AQA and has everything you need to know, the other two leave out some important aspects of the specification. I agree with the post above watching the news is vital as it stimulates thinking about sociology in a wider way beyond the text book and forming your own opinions which the examiners are also looking for. Too achieve a good grade make sure you do the papers over and and over again and prepare for all the possible 'essay' question ( 12 markers). Through this I am hopefully looking to achieve an a* next week (fingers crossed)

Good luck! I'm sure you will be excellent

Thank you! I have purchased this book as I saw it whilst out a couple of days ago, and I've flicked through it and it seems good. I'm going to read its entirety before school on the third. I hope you got your a*!
