AS English Lit (Edexcel) – disappointed with grade

In mocks leading up to the exam I was getting A's, yet my AS result for the Unit 1 paper was a C (my coursework was an A which brought up the overall grade to a B thankfully). I don't know why my grade is that low – I thought both essays went well. I think it might be the unseen poetry that let me down, but still am unsure why I ended up with 81/120 on that paper.

I am considering resitting Unit 1 to decrease the amount of marks I'll need at A2 for an A overall. However, it's not exactly necessary to do so, and I could feasibly get an A overall with the grade I already have (I'd need 173/200 at A2).

Bearing in mind I'm thinking of applying to Oxford this year, do you think I should go for the resit or just work hard enough at A2 for that A?

Sorry you've not had any responses about this. Are you sure you’ve posted in the right place? Posting in the specific Study Help forum should help get responses.

I'm going to quote in Tank Girl now so she can move your thread to the right place if it's needed. :yy:

You doing AQA? There is no harm ressiting paper one, it shouldn't be too tough, and will seem easy compared to A2.

Remember that AS level exams are a month before A2 anyway
