Will everybody need a Masters Degree in the future?

With the majority of students going to university, it seems as though A levels will not be enough for a person to get employment.

Beforehand, GCSE's were the standard, and A levels were for the people who took education that little further. Then it shifted and everyone needed to have A Levels, and a degree was for the one's who wanted to take it further.

However, now it seems as though a degree is the standard level of education that everybody has. So is a masters degree the new qualification which shows that a person is that little more educated????

How do we stop the masters degree becoming standard and everyone being £40,000 in debt???
Sorry you've not had any responses about this. :frown: Are you sure you’ve posted in the right place? Posting in the specific Study Help forum should help get responses.

I'm going to quote in Tank Girl now so she can move your thread to the right place if it's needed. :h: :yy:

What might happen is that those students who were rejected by elite universities first time round will pay through the nose for a masters second time round to make up for the initial disappointment.

No, they need to do a degree relevant to getting a job in the sector they want. Too many people do degrees because it interest them or because they haven't decided what they really want to do without thinking about what they will be doing when they finish.

If they haven't really decided, they should wait a few years until its clearer or maybe decide a degree is not what they want after all.

A masters in an irrelevant subject is no better than a first degree in an irrelevant subject.
