Formal speak

So I'm coming up to 50 posts and I feel quite at home here at TSR. So, I thought I would turn to you for advice...

My formal is coming up soon and as you would expect there is a lot of hype taking place. Half of conversation is taken up by what you're going to wear and who you are going with. And this is exactly the problem. I haven't asked anyone mainly because I didn't want to ask someone insincerely. But know I really like this girl and she is way to good for me and I don't know how to ask.

Maybe I'm just to shy but I really like her and I want to get to know her. How do I ask her without messing things up?

how long have you got till the formal? (presuming this is a leavers ball/prom)

as wangers said, maybe use a go-between,... a bit childish, but if it does the job....

and maybe have a quiet talk with her about something else, and gauge her reaction, see if she's interested, then get chatting about it and see what she says....

the last thing you want to do is just leave it and do nothing.
