night terrors

I'll keep this brief

we all had the odd nightterror but ive had three nightmares in the last month. Ive never had this many at one time, i cant remember the last time i had a nightmare, two have been along the same lines the other i dont remember what happened in the dream exactly i just "know" i had one. All three have had me wake up before the worst part and all three have had the same affect as to leave me scared to return to sleep. This nights one had be too scared to shut my eyes for nearly an hour. i eventually managed to calm myself down by watching a transformers cartoon for awhile (and smoked about six cigarettes) before being able to return to sleep.

This is starting to get to me nothing has really ahppened majorly in my life to inflict such dreams upon me,

thanks for reading, any ideas would be useful,

Maybe have bath and chill out before you sleep...read a book to take your mind off it until you fall asleep?

Hey Cadre- I have night terrors too, when I do eventually get to sleep- not just nightmares, but teeth grinding, legs thrashing away, sleepwalking, and several times I've apparently been really crying (howling) in my sleep and my flatmate has had to wake me up and when I've woken I've still been crying but don't know why. Sometimes I'm too scared to go back to sleep as the nightmares are horrid, I often wake with a jolt convinced I'm falling from a great height too.

Basically I don't know what to say- cartoons are a good idea as is reading- I find noise helps so tv all the way (don't turn the light off either- I try and go back to sleep with the lamp on. Good luck!!
