A bit better than "how much do you curl", I think...
I know theres atleast a few members here that DL, and probably a few more who haven't mentioned it yet. This is for your 1RM if you know it, or just however much you've lifted. Don't guess your 1RM from your weight for sets of 8 or whatever **** you do.
I have been going to the gym for about 1.5yr, during term time at least... I have always been active in sports, love floorball... (still play some with the school team). I just love any type of sports/training, it is fun!!!
I've pulled 160, a couple of years ago, thats my best.. I've been training for quite a few years but spend about 80% of my time regressing, because I suck ass. I suffer from over-enthusiasm... my desire to train far exceeds my recovery ability.
I've been good since the start of this year, though, and hopefully will get 160 again next friday, then continue progressing for atleast a few more months.
do you guys tend to just deadlift heavy about once a week, and manage to progress linearly indefinately?
i only do deadlifts when someone challanges me, like mates or colleages, otherwise i stick to routine and do my usual training, deadlifts as far as im concerned are only there for comps and boasting rights, ive never liked doing it as part of my routine, although it is an exceptional compound exercise

To the first part of your sentence, yes I am seldom doing deadlifts more than once a week, has happened monday+friday some time, but I don't feel it is nice for the back... To the second part...well, I guess I am still a beginner in terms of deadlifting (about a year), so I see increases regularly, but surely not really linearly, more like a y=Ln(x) curve... i.e. less progress per unit time as time passes by...

Why would you not do the best mass building lift known to man?

I didn't mean it like that. By linear progression I mean constant and reliable progression "every week". As is seen by beginners, for example, and some people for much longer than that. Linear progression is distinct from periodised training where the athlete may only break new ground about once a month at first, then a few times a year, then even less ofton, as they reach higher and higher levels. Higher levels relative to their own potential, that is. While my deadlift is nothing more than "beginner" weights, its probably pushing my limits. I'll be very lucky to ever get 200.
james, I'm a big fan of the long workouts... my gym has absolutely no ventilation (Ebor Fitness) which is horrible, its all rubbery/carpety and carcinogenic, ****ing disgusting. I want to get in and out ASAP.
2.5 reps.. tut tut. You've been going to failiure quite a lot recently, it seems. Be careful.
